Fireground Support Operations ... - 36501

Fireground Support Operations 1st Edition (2002)

Author/Publisher: IFSTA
ISBN 10: 0-87939-203-7

This manual replaces the IFSTA Fire Service Ventilation and Forcible Entry manuals and includes valuable information on fire service loss control as it applies to those two disciplines. Written for the advanced firefighter, the tools and techniques discussed in this manual are beyond those discussed in the Essentials of Fire Fighting, and they create an informational bridge to the Company Officer level.

In addition to discussions of fire behavior and size-up that are beyond those discussed in Essentials, this manual also discusses the most current ventilation methods and the most effective forcible entry techniques. The manual also uses numerous case histories as a means of stressing firefighter safety and survival on the fireground. These case histories provide examples of how firefighters have been injured or killed because they did not know or follow the principles and practices recommended in this manual. This is the manual on fireground "truck work," whether your department has a ladder truck or not.

Respiratory Protection for Fire and Emergency Se ... - 36502

Respiratory Protection for Fire and Emergency Services 1st Edition (2002)

Author/Publisher: IFSTA
ISBN 10: 0-87939-204-5

This 1st edition of the IFSTA Respiratory Protection for Fire and Emergency Services manual takes the place of the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (2nd edition) manual that was specific to the fire service and limited to the use of SCBA. In developing this manual, the IFSTA material review committee and the editor worked to include all types of respiratory hazards faced by personnel during emergency responses and the appropriate protection that must be worn. The committee recognized that changes in respiratory hazards, technology, regulations, and operational requirements justified a totally new approach to the subject and, therefore, adopted a new format for the manual. The manual is divided into two sections: the first dealing with administrative topics and the second with operational topics. While all of the information is needed for a comprehensive understanding of respiratory protection, the first section may be of greater value to personnel who must deal with selecting, purchasing, and maintaining respiratory protection in addition to facepiece fit testing. The operational section is directed toward the operational use, maintenance, and wearing of respiratory protection, along with emergency scene topics that interest the emergency responder.

Fire and emergency services organizations (public or private) must have an established respiratory protection program, including guidelines for use, maintenance, facepiece fit testing, and training. It is the intent of this manual to provide the necessary direction for such organizations in meeting the requirements for a respiratory protection program.

Marine Fire Fighting ... - 36352

Marine Fire Fighting 1st Edition (2000)

Author/Publisher: IFSTA
ISBN 10: 0-87939-177-4

The text addresses the shipboard fire fighting requirements of various maritime regulatory organizations such as U.S. Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard, and International Maritime Organization. It will aid the mariner, whether a new entrant about to join a vessel for the first time or an officer seeking higher certification, a new officer charged with inspecting fire equipment or conducting a training session, or a senior officer conducting a drill while in command. All will find information within these pages to assist them in their tasks.

It provides a resource to the mariner for use when attending courses required by regulations in fire fighting and safety, for self-study, and when instructing others during training and drills. The content covers all aspects of fire prevention and suppression on board, whether a vessel is sailing deep sea, coastal, or inland waters or whether a mariner is in the merchant service, naval service, or coast guard. Vessel personnel must be their own fire departments, police personnel, and ambulances.

Marine Fire Fighting for Land-Based Firefighters ... - 36476

Marine Fire Fighting for Land-Based Firefighters 1st Edition (2001)

Author/Publisher: IFSTA
ISBN 10: 0-87939-195-2

The responsibility for fire suppression on vessels moored in or passing through an area belongs to the local jurisdiction. This text was written to provide training assistance to shoreside fire service personnel who respond to those fire emergencies. It covers subjects pertaining to the maritime environment, shipboard fire fighting strategies and tactics, and firefighter safety. It addresses the requirements of maritime regulatory organizations such as the U.S. Coast Guard, Transport Canada, and International Maritime Organization and also addresses NFPA® 1405, Guide for Land-Based Fire Fighters Who Respond to Marine Vessel Fires.

Land-based firefighters need to understand their departments' policies and liabilities as they pertain to waterfront and marine incidents. Legal responsibilities and authorities aboard a vessel are different from those for a structure fire on land. This text describes the roles and responsibilities of responding agencies and the concept and implementation of a unified command structure. It also contains preincident and tactical work sheets, stability calculation work sheets, technical data sheets, professional qualifications, and training standards ready for immediate use by fire service personnel.

Guidelines for Highway Incident Scene Safety and Traffic Control CD-ROM 1st Edition (2005)

Author/Publisher: FPP

Highway traffic accidents pose a daily hazard for first responders. Unfortunately, often responders are killed and injured assisting at accident scenes. In most of these cases, they are injured due to a second accident when other cars and large trucks crash into the accident scene. These accidents can be avoided if proper highway incident traffic control is utilized.

The materials presented in this training course are based upon proven highway traffic control that provides for a safe incident area. Participants are trained in the proper location of advanced warning signs, flagging techniques, lane closures, and safety equipment. Participants receive a day of classroom training on traffic control fundamentals. In the optional second day of training, they do field exercises to assemble full-scale traffic control zones and practice flagging. The materials presented in this course will help make it safer for all first responders who assist at highway accident scenes. Members of the motoring public will also be safer as they continue their travels through the accident site.

CD-ROM includes:
-Instructor manual
-Participant manual
-Pocket guide
-Full-color PowerPoint® slides

References to page numbers are included in the workbook so students can use the product as a self-study tool by referring to the manual for correct answers. The use of the workbook will help improve student performances.

Essentials of Fire Fighting and Fire Department Operations Curriculum on CD-ROM Curriculum on CD-ROM 5th Edition (2007)

Author/Publisher: IFSTA/FPP
ISBN 10: 0-87939-289-4
ISBN 13: 978-0-87939-289-5

This CD-ROM includes virtually everything required to teach a comprehensive training course to meet the requirements of the 2008 edition of NFPA® 1001. This curriculum CD-ROM was developed to provide instructors and training agencies with all of the resources they need to teach basic fire fighting courses. The curriculum materials are designed to follow both the Essentials of Fire Fighting (5th edition) manual and the Essentials of Fire Fighting and Fire Department Operations (5th edition) manual. The materials are divided into Fire Fighter I and II lessons.

Each lesson contains a detailed, yet simple-to-use instructor presentation outline in Microsoft Word® format. This format allows instructors to customize the files to conform to their own teaching preferences or local procedures if they so choose. Skill evaluation checklists pertinent to each lesson are also provided. Customizable high-quality PowerPoint® presentations also accompany each lesson. These presentations include photos and illustrations from the manuals.

One exciting new feature that has been added for the 5th edition curriculum is the inclusion of a test generator on the curriculum CD-ROM. Questions from each chapter are placed into a test generator provided though our partnership with Brady. This process allows instructors to generate customized tests to meet their needs and suit their preferences.

All of the files on this CD-ROM may be viewed from the disc or copied to a computer hard drive. (It is necessary to copy the files in order to customize them.)
